Designing Trust + Intelligence for a Clean Energy SaaS

Context

Ampera Energy is a clean energy startup building AmpeX, a platform to monitor and optimize energy systems. As a new player in the sector, they needed a public-facing website to signal credibility, and a product experience that could help users interpret complex energy data with clarity and confidence.

The Challenge

Create a sophisticated visual identity for a website that appeals to enterprises, investors, and technical stakeholders.
Design an intuitive, scalable UX for AmpeX, a platform still evolving in functionality.
Work in parallel with the product team to map user journeys while also understanding energy systems and industry-specific cues.

My Process

1. Immersive Industry Research

Studied energy dashboards, enterprise SaaS trends, and clean tech narratives
Identified key user segments and their mental models (ops teams, managers, technical buyers)

2. Strategic Web Design

Crafted a conversion-focused homepage anchored in trust: clean typography, clarity-first copy, and subtle visual cues
Integrated pathways for multiple audiences (lead capture, investor overview, early access)

3. Product UX + UI Design

Mapped journeys for monitoring, alerts, reporting, and control flows
Created low- and high-fidelity wireframes with scalable component libraries
Collaborated closely with founders + engineers to prioritize usability, not just data density
Designed intuitive visual hierarchies for energy metrics, trends, and alerting flows

Learnings & Reflection

Designing for an emerging industry like clean energy required me to learn fast, synthesize deeply, and adapt visual choices to a domain that is both technical and trust-sensitive. Working solo but cross-functionally, I translated complex ideas into UX patterns that scale.

This project reaffirmed the value of good design as a bridge between innovation and user understanding.

The product design phase is ongoing. Once the AmpeX platform launches publicly, I’ll revisit this case with outcome metrics and interface walkthroughs.
